Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is the Beaulieu Development Centre outdoor activity area?
This is the best-kept secret in the New Forest! We will meet you at the National Motor Museum car park and lead you through a private estate to our secluded activity area deep in the forest.

What facilities are available at the outdoor activity area?
OK, this is what we do not have in our natural woodland environment - a shop, electricity, running water, public telephone, accommodation. The good news is that we DO have toilets!
We can provide packed lunches, taking into account special dietary requirements, and provide tea and coffee on request.

What will I need to bring?
For our outdoor centre activities a full kit list is provided with the booking information.
Indoor and outdoor programmes will have different requirements.

How do I know if I am physically able?
When we design a programme for your group the needs and medical conditions of all participants are taken into account. Individuals with concerns can contact us directly to clarify any issues.

What happens if it rains?
We kit up in our waterproofs and have fun. Reviewing the learning can be done in shelters or tents.

How long is the course or programme?
Each programme is designed to meet your group needs. We are open throughout the year.

Can I send my child along during the school holidays?
To attend you need to be part of a pre-arranged group. For example, a school or any other organised group.

Can I stay overnight?
We do not have accomodation but we can advise you of a wide range of local residential facilities from camp sites to luxury hotels.

How much will it cost?
We would be delighted to discuss costs based on the finally agreed programme arrangements. We are a non-profit making organisation and we use surplus income from corporate groups to subsidise schools, low income and disadvantaged groups.

How do I make a booking?
The first step is to telephone us to discuss your needs, agree dates or arrange a visit. Following this you will then complete our paperwork to confirm the booking.
